Troubleshooting

#kiln new

#Can't create a product without … in non-interactive mode

Kiln asks with a prompt only in a terminal. Pass the option that the message names.

#Couldn't get the newest Flow from adonisjs-plus/flow

Your GitHub account can't read the repository, or the build failed. Kiln uses the newest copy on your computer, and it says which one. To choose a file, pass --flow <FILE>. The log of the run gives the output.

#Lint fails on the new app

The app is in place, with no remote. Read the log of the run that the message names, fix the error, or delete the folders and run the command again.

#The folder exists

Use another name, or pass --dir.

#CI and reviews

#has no CI and no review yet

kiln new created the product, and it could not connect it. The message gives the cause.

  • When you are not signed in to AWS, run aws sso login, then the kiln connect command that it prints.
  • When the connection can't see the repository, set both GitHub Apps to All repositories, or add the repository to both. Then run kiln connect.

#The stack fails on AWS::CodeConnections::Connection

The region has no AWS CodeConnections. Use another region, and change FACTORY_REGION.

#A push does not run the review

The review runs when a pull request opens or reopens, because each run uses your Claude plan. Press Review in the panel, or run kiln review acme 3.

#flow/review fails with no comments

Read the log of the build in the CodeBuild console.

  • When the Claude token expired, store a new one with --overwrite.
  • When the repository is not on the review app, the build stops when it asks for a token.
  • When an older Kiln made the project, run kiln connect again.

#ci/codebuild does not appear

A webhook build runs only for a pull request from a trusted GitHub user. Add the user id to FACTORY_TRUSTED_ACTORS, and run kiln connect again.

#The panel

#is not a product hub: it has no factory.json

The tab points at another folder. Open the panel for the hub again.

#Cannot update the hub from GitHub

Your hub has a commit that is not on GitHub, or a change that conflicts. Run git status in the hub, then commit and push, or remove the change.

#The button says that the session is running

The session of that step is still open. It waits at its prompt after it finishes. Type /exit in it, then press the button again.

#Sessions

#git remote is denied

The settings of the hub deny this command, so the session uses another one. You can ignore it.
